We have to acknowledge the receipt of your letter, R.264/8 dated the 6th. instant, together with
copy of a despatch fro. the Governor of Hong Kong to
the Colonial office, covering : letter end sketch, dated
4t.. September last, from the Director of Public Works,
explanatory of a proposal submitted by him with respect
to a slight modification in the method of construction
to be adopted for the superstructure of the "onglotaud
Breakwater.

We have examined the letter and sketch under
reference, and see no objection to the adoption of the
propusels referred to therein es pul forrd by the
irector of Public Works, which will probably, as he
points out, facilitate the formation of the superstructure
and the rectification of any displacement of rubble that
may be caused by storms.
3. The section which accompanied our Report of
3rd. October, 1906, showed a mound consisting of rubble
